Portland, here I come & Gibelle the turkey!

Please head over to my new blog at TheUrbanHousewife.com, where you'll find this post & more!

I'm off to the vegan mecca, aka Portland! Look for many photos in the near future from mini mall trips to restaurant excursions. I'm still looking for activities to do from dancing to karaoke to art, so if you have suggestions, send them my way! Also, if you live in Portland & want to hang out, get in touch! I'll be around through Wednesday the 4th. melisser AT theurbanhousewife.com

In the meantime, enjoy this little video I took of Gibelle the turkey at the Farm Sanctuary Hoe Down. I was told if you say his name in a high pitched voice, he'll talk back to you. Watch what happens..

I assure you my voice is not that.. intense. Isn't he great though?!
Until next time! xo.

Have an AWESOME time in Portland, Melisser!!!! Can't wait to read about your trip - your recaps are always a treat!

Aww, love the video of Gibelle :0) I don't think I could ever get my voice that high though, so kudos, haha.

I can't watch that video right now because I am at work, but I am definitely looking forward to it as soon as I bust out of here! I looooove turkeys. We "adopt" one every year for Thanksgiving!

Have a fantastic time in Portland! I am so excited to hear all about it. I keep hearing/reading that Portland is like Vegan Mecca, so I'm sure it will be great!

Thanks again for hosting us at your place! It's been a crazy week, and I keep thinking about emailing you, but then time just gets away from me... You know how it is! We had such an amazing time, and you were the best hostess! xoxo

Cute turkey trick! I have a cat that does that...sort of. But turkeys? Crazy!

That actually reminds me a movie I watched this weekend called "Blood Freak." It's horrible 70s B-flick about a guy who smokes weed and then gets totally addicted and crazy. And then he eats poisoned turkey and grows a turkey head and gets all pro-Jesus and goes on a killing rampage seeking out weed-addicted non-Christians.

But I digress...have fun in Portland. You must visit the mini-mall and tell us all about it. I'm so jealous!

Aren't turkeys the best? They make the coolest noises!

Here's a funny PDX story I have... I went up a few years back to be a bride's made in my friend's shotgun wedding. I went to the world famous Voodoo Donuts and was way excited for Coco Puffs donuts and the like. I'd heard they had gross stuff, too, like Robitussin and Tang donuts. So when it was my turn I asked the guy for two of their grossest to bring my roommate back in Chicago. He hands me a bag and goes, "Here you go, one Tang and one vegan donut." D'oh!

I'v heard about a vegan, pirate-themed restaurant in Portland. There's also a Blossoming Lotus there (I went to one in Kauai...it was magical!).

i've been digging your blog and been doing some great veggie cooking myself. hope you and ryan are doing well!
